Code to the Future - Computer Science Immersion Program (March 2017)

At the March 9th, 2017 HLPUSD Board of Education Meeting, the Board approved the agreement between Hacienda La Puente Unified School District and Code To The Future, to provide coding classes for elementary students in a Computer Science Immersion Program, from March 14, 2017 through June 30, 2022.

Code to the Future specializes in coding lessons geared to elementary students and offers an established curriculum, coaches for the classrooms on a rotating basis, and professional development.

Baldwin Academy and Bixby Elementary School were identified for the Spring 2017 soft launch, due to the schools’ demonstrated use of technology and implementation of both the math and English adoptions. The other five elementary schools identified are Del Valle, Wedgeworth and Workman Elementary Schools, Cedarlane Academy and Valinda School of Academics. Two middle schools will be added in 2018-19.
