Student and Family Services

Student and Family Services fosters success in education for all students, promoting healthier lifestyles and positive school climate through our expertise in student support services.

The Hacienda La Puente Unified School District Office of Student and Family Services Department supports the instructional programs throughout the District.  Our main focus is the delivery of specialized services in the areas of enrollment, transfers, child welfare and attendance, custody of student records, discipline, health services, Section 504 accommodation plans, and the international student program.

Tobacco-Free Workplace Policy

It is the intention of Hacienda La Puente Unified School District (HLPUSD) to provide a smoke-free workplace within all buildings owned or leased by HLPUSD.  In accordance with law, the use of tobacco products will not be permitted at any time on any property or vehicles owned or leased by HLPUSD or at HLPUSD -sponsored events.  HLPUSD shall assure the maintenance of a tobacco-free workplace by:

 

A. Publishing a statement notifying employees and students of the policy and specifying actions to be taken against employees who violate it;

 

B. Displaying signs stating the prohibition of tobacco use at all entrances to all properties and vehicles owned or leased by HLPUSD;

 

C. Publishing information to parents, students, and  the larger community that the use of tobacco products is not permitted at any time on any property or vehicle owned or leased by the HLPUSD or at any school-sponsored event;

 

D. Taking appropriate personnel action, up to and including termination, within 30 days of receiving notice with respect to any employee who is in violation of the Tobacco-Free Workplace policy;

 

E. Informing employees and students about the availability of tobacco cessation and employee assistance programs;

 

F. Including a statement of tobacco prohibition in joint use agreements

Tobacco-Free Workplace Regulations

The use of tobacco products is prohibited at all times on all property and in all buildings and vehicles owned or leased by HLPUSD and at school sponsored events. The use of tobacco products is outside the scope and course of employment; therefore, it is not the requirement of HLPUSD to provide facilities where employees may use tobacco products.

 

Students who violate the Tobacco-Free Workplace policy shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including suspension and shall be provided with information on tobacco cessation services available through the California Smokers' Helpline - 1-800-NO BUTTS

 

Employees who violate the Tobacco-Free Workplace policy shall be subject to progressive disciplinary action up to and including termination and shall be provided with information on tobacco cessation services available through the California Smokers' Helpline - 1-800-NO BUTTS

 

Visitors who violate the Tobacco-Free Workplace policy shall be asked to refrain from using tobacco on school property.  If they refuse, they shall be asked to leave the property.  If they refuse, the principal or designee shall contact law enforcement to have the person removed from campus.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT

•  Open Enrollment takes place from Jan 1 – Feb 1: Applications are available in our office or on the district website during open enrollment.

•  Inter District Transfers for incoming students are processed year round:  Obtain approved release form from your home district and take the permit to the school you’d like your child to attend. All transfers will need to be approved by the requested school’s Principal.

•  Inter District transfers for students leaving the district (year round): Fill out Inter District Form, available in our office or online. Provide letter of reason for leaving and any documents to support your request. All transfer requests will need to be approved by the Executive Director at Student and Family Services.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide support to students and families to ensure that all students graduate and have the ability to succeed in the global community.  We encourage families to work with the school site to resolve any concerns you may have.  The office of Student and Family Services work diligently to support families and sites to resolve concerns enabling students to have a positive and successful educational experience.
