Hacienda La Puente's Division of Adult Education is proud to assist Veterans and their families with furthering their education, and the process needed to access Veterans Administration (VA) educational benefits. We have a wide variety of VA approved Career Technical Education Courses.

Veterans Program Benefits
Post 9/11 GI Bill is an educational benefit program for: (Chapter 33)
- active-duty veterans who served 90 aggregate days after September 10, 2001
- who were honorably discharged for a service connected disability
- that served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001
- Post 9/11 GI Benefits include:
- A basic housing allowance
- Tuition paid
- $1000
Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) Active Duty (Chapter 30)
- Veterans entering service after June 30, 1985
- Vietnam-Era Veterans with remaining entitlement
- Separated veterans who were separated:
- For certain reasons
- Under Voluntary Separation Incentive (VSI) Program
- Under Special Separation Benefits (SSB)
- Veteran’s Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) Select Reserve (Chapter 1606)
To Qualify, you must submit
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE form)
- Certification of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD-214)
Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP – Chapter 1607)
To Qualify, you must
- Active- Duty veterans who served 90 aggregate days after September 10, 2001
- who were honorably discharged for a service connected disability
- that served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001
Vocational Rehabilitation Program (VPR – Chapter 31)
- To Qualify, you must submit:
- The 30% service –connected disabled or certified disabled
- By the Veteran’s Administration on a case by case basis
Survivors and Dependents Benefits (Chapter 35)
- To Qualify, you must submit:
- Veteran’s Certification of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD-214)
- Veteran’s Social Security Number

How to Apply for Benefits (Apply on-line for Chapter 33, 30, 1606, 1607)
Step 1 - Logon to vabenefits.vba.va.gov
Step 2 - Click on VONAPP
Step 3 – Select New User and create your (Login Name, Password, Password Hint, Submit contact email address, click continue)
Step 4 – Login and select the Education Benefits Form 22-1990 from the drop down menu
Step 5 – Fill out Form 22-1990 and print out
Step 6 – Get your documentation to the Veteran’s Program Office (Educational Benefits Form 22-1990, Certification of Release or Discharge from active duty DD-214
Step 7 – Meet with the Veteran’s Certifying Official at Hacienda La Puente Adult Education
Step 8 – Declare your course of study
