California Common Core Standards CCCS
Welcome to the HLPUSD California Common Core Standards (CCCS) Webpage
In 2010 California joined with 45 states and adopted the same standards for both English and Math. These standards are known as the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Having the same standards enables all students to have a quality education. CCSS allows students can obtain a quality education, even if they change schools or move to a different state. Teachers, parents, and educators designed the CCSS to prepare students for college and career readiness.
HLPUSD schools will be introducing the new Common Core State Standards with full implementation anticipated by the 2014-15 academic year. Site Common Core Implementation Facilitators will be at schools sites to aid with CCSS Implementation. Updates, plans and progress of CCSS implementation in HLPUSD will be posted on this web page as they become available.

Mission Statement
The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.
Common Standards
Building on the excellent foundation of standards states have laid, the Common Core State Standards are the first step in providing our young people with a high-quality education. It should be clear to every student, parent, and teacher what the standards of success are in every school.
