Data collection is an essential part of maintaining and supporting students in our schools. Each year our team works to ensure we have "clean data". What we mean by clean data is that we have accurate data on students experiencing homeless living situations. This process ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, provides targeted support services, and allocates resources appropriately year after year.
The task of case management for vulnerable student groups is centered around identifying and tending to the unique requirements of students who require additional assistance to excel in their academic pursuits. The objective of case management is to offer customized care to students who might be facing physical, emotional, or social obstacles that can impede their academic progress. For students enrolled in the McKinney-Vento program, case management enables decision-makers to assess the level of support required and implement appropriate interventions.
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act ensures that homeless students have equal access to education, transportation, and educational programs, and allows them to remain in their original school if it's in their best interest, regardless of their housing situation.
