Two-year, Individualized, Job-embedded System of Mentoring & Support

HLPUSD provides a meaningful Induction Program of support and self-assessment to advance the skills and knowledge of each Candidate and simultaneously improve student achievement.  The program supports on-going reflection and self-assessment of each Candidate’s progress toward growth in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP). The program is designed to improve classroom practice of Candidates and develop teachers who are responsive to the diverse cultural, social, and linguistic backgrounds of all students. The program includes mentor support for each eligible teacher in the district for two years and professional development opportunities for Candidates and Mentors as determined by individual assessment and goals.

The program is based on a clearly defined set of goals and outcomes designed around the CSTP and Induction Standards to support new teacher growth and student achievement.

HLP Teacher Induction is a two year state sponsored program in which preliminary credential holders demonstrate efficacy and earn their clear credential.  Qualified teachers must have a full time teaching position and possess a preliminary multiple subject, single subject or Level 1 credential.

To check for induction eligibility, please contact Joanne Chan, Induction Coordinator, by either emailing jochan@hlpusd.k12.ca.us or calling (626) 933-4303.
