Attendance Support and Resources

Why School Attendance Matters
Every school day is an important part of a student’s learning journey. Missing even one or two days each month can add up to significant lost instructional time and make it more difficult for students to keep pace with their classmates.
Regular attendance helps students:
- Strengthen their academic and social skills
- Build positive relationships with teachers and classmates
- Develop routines and habits that support success in school and life
Your support in making school attendance a daily priority can make a lifelong difference.
What Is Excellent Attendance?
Excellent attendance means maintaining an attendance rate of 96% or higher—generally no more than seven total absences during the school year.
Families can help students stay on track by:
- Attending school every day
- Arriving on time and ready to learn
- Scheduling appointments and family activities outside school hours whenever possible
- Closely monitoring absences so students do not miss more than seven days during the school year
- Communicating regularly with the school when attendance concerns or barriers arise
Every absence—whether excused or unexcused—means missed instructional time. When an absence is unavoidable, families should notify the school promptly and help ensure their student completes any missed assignments. Working together, families and schools can help every student stay engaged, keep learning, and succeed throughout the school year.
