Enrolling New Students for the 2026-2027 School Year
The Hacienda La Puente Unified School District invites you to enroll in our award-winning school district. Whether you are new to the area or your student is starting their academic journey, we are here for you. Our schools are where students are known, supported, challenged and inspired to do their best work.
Preschool Enrollment
Families can enroll their children in HLPUSD preschool programs, including Head Start, State Preschool, and Child Development Centers, with options based on their needs and qualifications.

Transitional Kindergarten Information
Transitional Kindergarten is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten and provides young learners with an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is tailored to meet their unique academic and social needs.
In the 2026-2027 school year, TK is offered to students who turn five years old between September 2, 2026 through September 1, 2027.

Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment will open on January 1, 2027 and close on February 1, 2027.
All HLPUSD students generally attend the school where their residency has been established. HLPUSD residents also have the opportunity to submit a School of Choice application during Open Enrollment. HLPUSD Families that apply for Open Enrollment this year, will be placed in the applicant pool for their school of choice for the 2026-2027 school year.
All Open Enrollment applications will be done electronically.

This will only be active during the Open Enrollment period. Must complete the application by February 1, 2027.
*Please note this is not for new enrollments or students on Inter-district Permit from outside the district. New student enrollment (TK-12) for 2026-27 school year begins on January 20, 2026.

Intradistrict and Interdistrict Transfers
Interdistrict Transfers for incoming students are processed year-round: Obtain approved release form from your home district and take the permit to the school you’d like your child to attend. All transfers will need to be approved by the requested school’s Principal.
