February 2025 Superintendent's Update

Dear HLPUSD Community,

Even though February is the shortest month of the year, our students, teachers, staff, and schools have made tremendous strides and achieved many of their goals. Their hard work and resiliency continue to inspire and strengthen our commitment to the educational journey ahead, and I am excited to share some key highlights with you.

Our partnership with the Board of Education is essential in ensuring the success of our District, schools, staff, teachers, and students. Through this collaboration, we are able to create an enriching, accessible, and equitable educational environment for all students. Thank you to our 2025 Board of Education members:

In February, we also had the privilege of celebrating our District’s successes at the 10th Annual State of the District event. This annual gathering honors our community members, from students and parents to teachers and staff, and highlights how we work together to foster academic excellence and innovation.

Our students continue to shine at a local and national level. From singing the national anthem at sports games to representing the District in Washington, D.C., our students are gaining real-world experiences that will help them succeed in their future careers. Civic learning opportunities are available to our youngest learners in elementary school, while our high school seniors are being recognized by national organizations for their accomplishments. Our students are a testament to the District’s commitment to providing an exceptional education, where every opportunity for growth, learning, and success empowers them to reach their full potential.

As we look toward the rest of the school year, let us continue to work together to create a supportive environment where every student can thrive. Thank you for your ongoing dedication to bringing student success to the forefront of our everyday work. We are grateful for the collaborative spirit that unites our community, and we look forward to the continued success we will achieve in the months ahead.
